Founding Member, Council of Advanced Practitioners of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys

Donald D. Vanarelli, Esq. is a founding member of the Council of Advanced Practitioners (CAP) of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). CAP is an invitation-only group comprised of premier attorneys, representing the most credentialed and talented Elder Law attorneys in the country.

An Eligible CAP candidate must be:

1. A NAELA member for a minimum of ten years,
2. AV-rated by Martindale Hubbell, and
3. Either a NAELA Fellow or a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA)

NAELA recognizes the Members of CAP as:

1. The innovators of the profession;
2. Instrumental in leading the future of Elder Law;
3. A major source of speakers, writers, and leaders of NAELA programs; and,
4. NAELA's role models, providing a "vision" for NAELA and mentoring for NAELA members; and,
5. Pre-eminent in the field.

NAELA defines a pre-eminent elder law attorney as an individual who has a well-deserved reputation as an outstanding and exceptionally skilled elder law attorney or special needs law practitioner. The attorney should have made substantial contributions to elder or special needs law by:

1. Litigating an important elder or special needs law case,
2. Lecturing, writing or teaching with a high degree of competence,
3. Advocating important legislative or administrative matters, or
4. Demonstrating leadership on issues affecting the elderly and people with disabilities in Bar association and other professional activities.
